London Calling: The Photos - Part
What a wonderful 11 days I have spent in the beautifully historic city of London, England. This was the first leg of my family's huge holiday around Europe and Dubai this summer, and boy what a way to kick off a trip. We spent a short time with extended family from my Mum's side and catching up on good times, as well as many day trips sightseeing and touring London and its history. This time around - we visited the UK 13 years ago - we decided to base ourselves in a central, swanky uptown apartment in Bethnal Green, not far from Shoreditch - the new in place to be seen - and opt out of using a hire car and instead use the local underground transport, the tube. There was also a tube stop at the end of our road, so each morning we'd hop on and journey to the next adventure, where majority of the famous landmarks and
attractions were within walking distance from tube stops. A few places we visited included: the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Science and Natural History Museums, St. Paul's Cathedral, London and Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Big Ben, Kensington Gardens and Palace, Buckingham Palace, Brick Lane and Borough Markets, Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament and Hyde Park. It can't go without a quick mention that my Mum, sister and I roamed around Westfield Stratford City shopping for several hours maybe four or five times - haul to follow soon! The trip went by in a whirlwind and I was certainly sad to leave, but onward with the next chapter in Paris, France!
