The March Makeup Menu

The March Makeup Menu | Cate Renée

I must say ever since I had a huge overhaul at the end of February, I've thoroughly been enjoying my makeup collection. I felt as if there were good products going to waste, hidden and stuffed at the back of my drawer that deserved a new home and some lovin', so I passed on a whole bucket load to my sister and friends. Now my collection is much smaller and refined I feel like I've gotten more use out of the products I really love. I just want to mention quickly that I had planned to take some nice face photos but my skin has been horrendous lately - sparking a huge Cult Beauty haul - zo I will spare you the evidence and instead stick to a pretty flat lay of the products.

BASE
I only have a five or six base products that I always use and come back to and that's why it will probably come as no shock that I'm still using the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser as my primer. My skin's all over the shop at the minute, some patches dry and flaky, others really spotty. For foundation and concealer it's got to be my favourite drugstore combo from the Revlon Colour Stay range - I use the shades 150 Buff in foundation and 02 Light Pale for concealer. Although the concealer does tend to crease under the eye I still love it for blemish and redness cover-ups. Earlier this year I went through a heavy bronzer phase but I've come out the other side and have been opting for this gorgeous MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty for a pop of pink of my cheeks. And of course its a no brainer that Urban Decay's Setting Spray is a must for keeping everything in place all day.

EYES
I've kept everything relatively simple on the eyes as of late, mostly due to the fact I am lazy as hell, but also because I've been partial to a bold lip. But in saying that I have falling in love with eyeshadow eyeliner thanks to my new YouTube love Allana Davison. I tested this out a few years back and totally forgot all about it, and considering I practically have a meltdown every time I attempt liquid liner, this is the perfect alternative. To achieve this look I've been using my Zoeva 317 Wing Liner Brush and a little of Sexpresso from Too Faced's Natural Eyes Palette to create a matte brown smokey flick. I also find the whole thing less harsh than the heavy strokes of black eyeliner.

For lashes I received this Soap & Glory Thick & Fast HD Mascara for Christmas in a gift set and it's got the be up there with some of the best drugstore mascaras I've used - sadly I've yet to find it stocked anywhere in Australia. Brows are still the same old game of MAC Charcoal Brown Eyeshadow with a mix of the Maybelline Brow Satin Duo in Medium Brown.

LIPS
As I mentioned above I've recently been on the bold lip train again. This time 'round I'm all over bright pops of pink, my favourites being the L'Oreal Colour Riche Matte in VIP and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp. Although I do find the upkeep of bold lip colours to be exhausting, especially when eating out, they always brighten up my smile and give me this inner boost of lady boss confidence. Any one else feel like they've really got their shit together in a statement lip?
