5 Eyeshadow Brushes That You Need

5 Eyeshadow Brushes That You Need To Buy | Cate Renée

Aside from the obvious fact that I am a makeup maven with a bit of an obsession with collecting pretty palettes and all things glittery, I love the process of putting on your makeup just as much as the next person. I've really started from the bottom and worked my way up, originally starting out with a cheap set I bought off eBay and later investing in more higher quality brushes. But when it comes to eye makeup and the application there's nothing worse than a rough, scratchy brush with cheap-feeling bristles, and for that I've searched high and low for the soft and fluffy kind to make the job a little easier. Here are five of my current favourite makeup brushes for eyeshadow application.

Although I have now gathered quite the small collection of eyeshadow brushes, these five are my most used and certainly my most favourite. The Real Techniques Domed Shadow which I believe has been renamed the Your Eyes Enhanced Shading Brush, is amazing for packing on product and building up colour intensity. Its domed shape makes it perfect for all over base application for which I tend to use more for glittery shades and cream formulations that needn't any blending.

Zoeva has been my number one favourite brand for makeup brushes ever since I invested a small fortune in the GORGEOUS rose gold collection (see post here). In particular my two favourites for the eye area are the 227 Soft Definer and 231 Petite Crease. The Soft Definer is the ultimate soft and fluffy blending brush and evenly works colour all over the eye. For everyday makeup I'm pretty lazy and just want to get it over quickly, so I usually just swirl this brush in a neutral colour and apply it all over. As for the Petite Crease, this brush makes more defined and smokey eye looks a breeze to apply and really pushes the colour the nooks and crannies of your eyelid.

I recently purchase my first set of Ecotools makeup brushes and as the mother brand of Real Techniques I had super high hopes. And I have indeed fallen in love with their brand and more so the Smudge & Petite Eye Shading brushes, which if you like to wear eyeshadow under your eyes or want something to smudge out your eyeliner a tad then these two are just the best! The bristles are super soft and with my allergy sensitive eyes is a godsend for makeup application. I'm really keen to try out some more of their products and get my hands on a few of their base brushes.
